Book Review: Debt: The First 5000 Years by David Graeber

Book Review: Debt: The First 5000 Years by David Graeber

I can’t recommend Debt: The First 5,000 Years highly enough. I think it’ll give you insights into just how money works if you don’t already know that at a deep level. Being a geek, being college-educated I had no clue if you have an engineering degree or even a PhD in engineering, this isn’t necessarily something that you learn about.

Hi! It’s Ahmed and I am back at the mountain top. I apologize in advance for the video quality, I’m just holding the phone with my hand this time. I’ve been coming up here for a couple of days and it is an absolutely gorgeous California day today. It’s going soon so I thought, hey why not post up another book review? I’ve been reflecting quite a bit on just the state of the world, state of business and I’ve been thinking particularly a lot about debt, what debt means.

Book Review: The Fifth Risk by Michael Lewis

Book Review: The Fifth Risk by Michael Lewis

Hi! It’s Ahmed again with another book review. I know we’re in the middle of coronavirus and everything else that’s going on. And I’ve been under the stay-at-home order from the governor so been staying at home for the last three weeks now. I was self quarantined before because I was afraid that I may have been in touch with someone with coronavirus. I was flying a lot so this is the most fun that I get to have, get outside and make a little video.

Book Review: Antifragile by Nassim Nicholas Taleb

Antifragile: Things That Gain From Disorder is a seminal book by Author Nassim Nicholas Taleb. In this video Ahmed’s talks about his experiences reading the book and some key takeaways.

I’ll be book called Antifragile by Nassim Nicholas Taleb. It’s a great book, it’s had a lot of impact on my own life and on how I think about business. Just my philosophy on life, business, and family. You wouldn’t think that a book can have that much impact but great books do. And in light of recent events with what’s going on with Coronavirus right now and the stock market as crazy as it is, I thought this is a good time to take a look at some of Nassim Taleb’s work.

And Nassim Taleb is – some of you probably already know –  he is the famous author behind Black Swan. You kind of predicted the stock market crashes that’s happened in the past. He’s a pretty amazing guy and he’s pretty opinionated. So he thinks what he thinks and he lets you know it, which makes his books a very interesting read and certainly challenging.

Book Review: Facebook The Untold Story by Steven Levy

Book Review: Facebook The Untold Story by Steven Levy

Reflections on Steven Levy’s recent book: Facebook the Untold Story. This is an Entrepreneur & Geek’s take on the many stories that weave together to create the story of Facebook.

Mark Zuckerberg‘s work has impacted the world and this book explores the details of his story and those of the people around him. Most interestingly for most people they can see how their own story interleaves with Facebook’s Story since most of the planet has crossed paths with Facebook’s growth and journey.
